What is the program like?

Wellfit helps you achieve your personal wellness goals in a safe and supportive environment, and gives you the education and training to continue your journey when you go home.

Our affordable, comprehensive weight loss program is based on a balance of fitness activities, calorie controlled spa cuisine, and an enlightening educational series. Our program is structured to make getting healthy simple and achievable in everyday life. Our program is a minimum one week stay, with all check-ins and check-out on Sundays.

Our program is based on a proven five-point philosophy:

Along with our many wonderful services and benefits included in the resort rate, guests are also welcome to add private nutrition consultations, private training sessions and spa treatments for an additional cost at any time during their stay.

Is the program only for overweight people?

Our program is structured to include guests who come for a variety of reasons. The primary motivators are generally to lose weight or experience an active fitness retreat-while learning how to achieve and maintain overall wellness.

What is the age limit for guests?

The WellFit program accommodates teens in our program (ages 14-17) but they are required to be accompanied by an adult to all activities.

Please Note: Our resort does not offer childcare services.

Is there laundry service available?

Yes, we have a coin operated laundry facility on-site. Guests can purchase laundry detergent from the retail store or bring their own.

What should I pack?

At the time you place your reservation we will be sending you a detailed packing list, to make your preparation for Wellfit Malibu as easy as possible. Here are a few Items we suggest:

 

-Athletic Shoes

-Trail/Hiking Shoes

-Two pairs of athletic socks per day

-Swimwear and goggles

-Sunblock

-Sunglasses

-Casual Clothes

-Jacket

-Hat

Guests enjoy delicious spa cuisine meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner with dessert.  Created by an experienced team of world-class executive chefs and registered dietitians. Each delicious calorie controlled meal features top quality ingredients, in just the right nutritious balance of proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats. The menu is tailored to provide the body and mind the nutrition it needs for physical and mental challenges throughout your stay at WellFit Malibu. All menu options can be fully customized for allergies, and other dietary restrictions.

Here are some sample menu items:

 

  • Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with toast, protein smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt parfait.

  • Lunch: Soup and salad, Lettuce wrapped sirloin burgers, chicken tostadas, shrimp fajitas, and turkey meatloaf

  • Snacks: Nut-butter, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, with optional fruit/veggies; protein smoothies after strength training workouts.

  • Dinner: Salad, Grilled Salmon with quinoa, ham with date and orange glaze, vegetable lasagna, and margarita steak.

  • Desserts: Chocolate covered strawberries, apple cobbler, fruit compote, key lime pie.

 

 

Please note that we do not serve coffee (or other caffeinate beverages), carbonated beverages (including “diet” sodas), or alcohol at the resort.

Our goal is to help you reach yours. Every day is specifically designed to provide you with the activities, education, nourishment and individualized attention you need to stay motivated in your journey to a healthier life.

How many calories will I be eating in a day?
 

Daily intake will be an average of 1500 calories, barring special circumstances, in which a few people might need additional calories. We understand everyone’s body and metabolism is unique.

 

We mindfully determined this amount of calories to ensure we are providing the nutrients needed to offer the best results for the majority of our guests.

What are the hikes like?

The hikes cover a variety of terrain throughout the Santa Monica Mountains. We hike everyday of the week, rain or shine, and offer an optional extended hike on Saturdays. However, guests at Wellfit also have the option to stay back at the resort and participate in a fitness class if they choose not to hike on a particular morning.

 

Hikes last for about 2 hours and vary in difficulty from completely flat trails to rolling hills (some uphill and downhill) to all uphill. Furthermore, the terrain can vary from a wide fire road to a more rocky single track trail. No matter your fitness level or goals here at Wellfit, there is a hike for you!

What if I don't like the food being served?
 

We have a delicious selection of meal substitution items to choose from should you not like something on the regular menu.

Yes! No matter your fitness level, our hiking department is flexible enough to find the perfect trail for you. Hiking at Wellfit is not just about finding the toughest trail and getting the best workout. Our hikes are also about using nature to heal our bodies, minds, and souls. 

 

We want to promote a sense of companionship with nature and with your fellow guests. We choose hike locations where there is something for everyone, whether you want to stop and take pictures, learn about the local plants and wildlife from our hiking guides, or be pushed physically to get a great workout.
